The Qualified Employee Program consists of a series of training modules specific to your plan/site which will provide plant personnel with the electrical safety techniques necessary to operate and maintain plant electrical systems. This electrical safety compliance taining will assist in maintaining compliance with OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.269 "Generation, Transmission, and Distribution", 29 CFR 1910 Subpart S - Electrical and other applicable OSHA standards which reference electrical safety.
QEP-05: Care, Use and Selection of Rubber Gloves
Purpose:
This module covers the requirements for inspecting and testing of insulated rubber gloves and their protective liners. The module will also give the participant hands on experience in conducting visual inspections and air tests, donning, doffing, and storage of insulated rubber gloves and their protective liners.
Objectives:
The employee will be able to:- State the 5 classes of insulated rubber gloves, their maximum voltages and test voltages as per 29 CPR 1910.137
- Describe and demonstrate the required visual inspections on insulated rubber gloves
- Describe the required visual inspections on protective liners
- Describe the required air test on insulated rubber gloves
- State and describe the inspection and electrical testing requirements for insulated rubber gloves
- State when rubber gloves are required to be to be used
- Describe and demonstrate the proper technique to don rubber gloves and protective leather gloves
- Describe and demonstrate how to properly store rubber gloves and protective leather gloves
